Air pollution in the Rhine Valley

Overall air pollution in the Rhine Valley in the Grisons,Switzerland: A topographical map is superimposed on a DTM. Theoverall air pollution in the valley was measured by a researchproject where the distribution of lichen was mapped. Lichen speciesfunction as bioindicators for air quality. The various zones ofdifferent air pollution are shown in colors ranging from yellow (lowpollution) to dark red (high pollution). This is an example of ourcollaboration with Universityof Toronto, Centre for Landscape Research.
